Bike Walk Alameda (BWA) is advocating to get a proposed bike-pedestrian bridge connecting west Alameda and Downtown Oakland implemented into Caltrans and Alameda County Transportation Commission’s (ACTC) proposed Oakland-Alameda accessibility plan.
An adult male died as a result of major injuries after his vehicle crashed into a light pole on Webster Street, just outside the Webster Tube, at 10:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1. According to the City of Alameda report, the driver does not appear to be a resident of the Bay Area.
The City of Alameda is notifying residents to not be alarmed if they see smoke or hear sirens blaring at the Webster and Posey Tubes (State Route 61) the night of Wednesday, June 15. The smoke and sirens will be due to a drill by the Oakland and Alameda fire departments.
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced recently that it will close the Webster and Posey tubes in mid and late January for cleaning. Cleaning for the Posey Tube was completed earlier this week.
