On Friday, Nov. 4, legendary Alameda High School football coach Steve Yamasaki was honored at halftime during the Hornets' last home game of the year at Thompson Field. Earlier in the season the beloved and longtime coach announced his retirement after 47 years of Alameda Hornet football.
Football:
• Alameda High School (AHS) defeated to Kennedy High of Fremont, 26-24 (Oct. 29)
• Encinal High School (EHS) lost to James Logan High of Union City, 34-6 (Oct. 28)

• Alameda High beat Richmond High 28-6
• Encinal High lost to De Anza High 32-0
The East Bay United Bay Oaks 05 Gold (17U Girls) team made it to the quarterfinals of the 2022 U.S. Youth Soccer Far West Regional Championships last week. The tournament was held from June 20 to 26 in Boise, Idaho.
After nearly a year-long suspension, Alameda Unified School District’s (AUSD) high school sports have been coming back on line as of March 1. Swimming and diving, track and field, girls tennis, boys and girls golf, baseball, softball, cheer and football have all begun their official seasons.
The St. Joseph Notre Dame (SJND) men’s basketball team took down Woodside Priory Portola Valley 61-50 on its home court in the NorCal Div. V quarterfinals last Saturday, March 12.
