Crewmembers from the Alameda Fire Department (AFD) rescued a distressed kite surfer in the waters off Shore Line Drive last Saturday. A crew in an East Bay Regional Parks District helicopter assisted in the rescue.
South Shore Center in Alameda will host a community blood drive with Stanford Blood Center (SBC) on Friday, Feb. 17 from 1 to 5:00 p.m. at 2310 South Shore Center.
According to management at the Trader Joe’s at South Shore Center, Alameda County’s reusable bag ordinance has helped reduce the store’s daily paper bag churn by 75 percent. Throughout the county since 2013, customers are charged 10 cents per grocery bag.
The opening night in a series of free concerts features the Mike Amaral’s California Beach Boys, a tribute to the original Beach Boys rock band at South Shore Center.
