The St. Joseph Notre Dame (SJND) men’s basketball team capped off its 2015-2016 season with a 55-50 victory over St. Bernard of Playa del Rey in the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Div. V. title game.

The Pilots won the back-and-forth tilt with a total team effort, including crucial made free throws from an unlikely source. SJND came out the gates firing from downtown. The Pilots scored 12 of its 14 first-quarter points off of four 3-pointers. The team would go on to make six 3-pointers. The Pilots held a slim 14-13 lead after the first quarter.

St. Joseph Notre Dame High School’s Pilots have done it again. For the fifth time in the school’s history, the men’s basketball team has been named state champions. Above, Temidayo Yussuf and Lamont Banks congratulate each other while other team members do the same.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) recently dropped by St. Joseph Notre Dame (SJND) High School. A team of five FBI special agents from San Francisco’s Evidence Response Team made a special visit to Chand Desai’s forensic science class and gave students the inside scoop on what their jobs entail. The students also got a crash course on a few forensics procedures.

St. Joseph Notre Dame High School (SJND) has named Beatrice Levy the school’s 2017-2018 Poet Laureate. The school made the announcement at Prisms’ annual Evening of Readings and Music. Prisms is the school’s literary art magazine.

English workshop teacher Elizabeth Norris noted that she’s had Levy in mind as a potential Poet Laureate since she taught her in the sixth-grade poetry workshop. That same workshop opened a new world for Levy.
