Bay Area natives Jessie Stewart and Rei Esaka were the big winners at the See Jane Run Half-Marathon and 5K race last Sunday, June 22 in Alameda.
The 29-year-old Stewart blew through her competition completing the half-marathon course in 1:21:52, on her way to winning the race. San Francisco resident Michelle Meyer came in second place with a time of 1:25:38, while Oakland resident Flora Lai came in third place with a time of 1:27:41.
Eighty-year-old Porter Davis will be busy this Sunday doing something that people half his age wouldn’t even consider. He’ll be running the “Dipsea."
At 104 years old (24 years older than Davis), the Dipsea is the oldest trail race in America. On the second Sunday of June each year, the scenic 7.4-mile course from Mill Valley to Stinson Beach challenges runners with its stairs and steep trails.
