Since the holiday season comes but once a year, while good cheer and celebration is the focus, these celebrations cause trash bins to fill up with extra waste. This year, don’t be so quick to toss everything in the trash, because a lot of items can be recycled, and remember, Santa is watching.

Effective July 1, recycling and composting will be mandatory for all businesses, institutions and multi-family homes in Alameda County, according to the Mandatory Recycling Ordinance and the Plant Debris Landfill Ordinance. 

After an outstanding event last year, the Ethical Fashion Show is back and better than ever, said event organizer Kasia Metkowski, a student at Alameda Science and Technical Institute (ASTI).

The Alameda County Source Reduction and Recycling Board is seeking to fill an Environmental Educator vacancy. The appointee must live in Alameda County. The appointment is for two years, and board members are eligible for re-appointment to one additional two-year term.
