Lace up your walking shoes for a walk around the Island City. On Saturday, May 3, the Alameda Police Department (APD) is sponsoring the “May You Arrive Safely” with two walks. One starts at the Harbor Bay Ferry Terminal near Mecartney Road and Adelphan Way, the other at the Alameda Main Street Terminal, 2900 Main St. Both walks start at 9 a.m. and finish at 12:30 p.m. in the City Hall parking lot, 1555 Oak St.

In Alameda County more than 95 percent of children’s car seats are used or installed incorrectly. Don’t put your child at risk. The Alameda Police Department (APD) is teaming up with the Alameda County Child Passenger Workgroup and Habitot Children’s Museum to inspect child car seats. 

The inspections will take place from 10 a.m. to noon this Saturday, April 26, in the APD parking lot, 1555 Oak St. Trained technicians will be available to teach how to ensure that children ride safely.

Officers from the Sacramento, Alameda and Berkeley police departments have arrested three suspects in connection with the 2010 murder of 35-year-old Eric Franklin in Alameda. One of the men arrested is also wanted in connection with a second killing in unincorporated San Leandro.
