Players from the Oakland Raiders and representatives from the National Football League (NFL) visited Maya Lin School on Tuesday to reward students there for winning the Super Bowl Play 60 Challenge, a fitness program developed by the NFL and the American Heart Association.
May Lin fifth-graders completed more minutes than 12,000 other students who participated in the program in seven Bay Area counties. The Maya Lin students also showed the most enthusiasm, an NFL source said.
Two Alamedans will participate in the "presenting the colors" ceremony at the San Francisco 49er home game this Sunday, Nov. 2.
Duane Blackwell and Chester R. Bartalini, Jr. will be two of the five presenters at the game at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara. They will present alongside George Rodgers, Ryan Renard and Don Marden. Rodgers, Renard and Marden will be the flag bearers, while Blackwell and Bartalini will be the lead and trail sentries, respectively.
