Alameda resident Alberto Rodriguez, a new kindergartener at the newly renamed Love Elementary School, happily attended his first-ever day of school Monday. The Alameda Unified School District reminds residents to take it slow while driving in town as students will be walking and biking to class. In most places the speed limit in Alameda is 25 miles per hour.
Rodriguez, whose aunt is the Alameda Sun’s finance manager, helps send subscription renewal letters for the paper from time to time. Thanks, Alberto!
This past spring, the Haight Renaming Committee invited Alameda Unified School District students to write essays and letters sharing their thoughts about renaming Haight Elementary School. “Should Haight School be renamed? Why or why not?”
