Mayor Trish Herrera Spencer and Alameda’s Social Services Human Relations Board will be honoring extraordinary volunteers who make a difference in our community this evening. Seven community volunteers and one nonprofit organization will receive the City of Alameda Community Service Awards, at a reception and presentation ceremony.
The awards will be handed out at the Alameda Elks Lodge at 2255 Santa Clara Ave. tonight at 6:30 p.m., followed by the awards presentation ceremony at 7 p.m.
This year, the Have a Heart Gala which benefits Alameda’s Midway Shelter will honor the shelter’s founder, Ginny Krutilek for her 25 years of service. The gala is slated for Saturday, March 29, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Alameda Elks Lodge, 2255 Santa Clara Ave.
