The Kiwanis Club of Alameda awarded more than $30,000 in scholarships to six high school seniors at a dinner ceremony on May 1. The students chosen excelled in academics, community service and leadership.

The Kiwanis Club of Alameda awarded more than $35,000 in scholarships to six high school seniors at a dinner held at the Elks Club. Kiwanis has several scholarships named for donors that are funded annually.

The Kiwanis Club of Alameda recently announced the club is looking for chili chefs to compete in the 18th annual Alameda Kiwanis Chili Cook-Off set for Saturday, Jan. 28, at the “O” Club at Alameda Point.
