Harbor Bay Landing hosts 19th annual Spring Festival

Last Saturday Harbor Bay Landing held its 19th annual Spring Festival with a strong Year of the Rooster theme. Organizers reported the largest crowd in the event’s history.

The festival packed color into the Harbor Bay Landing shopping center. Flowers and orchids were given away and most in attendance brought their own colorful lawn chairs to take in the multi-colored events that ran continuously like a cultural marathon.

The annual celebration of spring and the Lunar New Year in Alameda has been set for Saturday, April 29, at the Harbor Bay Landing Shopping Center. Now in its 19th year, the Harbor Bay Intercultural Committee’s Spring Festival will celebrate The Year of the Rooster.

The free event features local favorite the Lincoln Middle School band; multicultural dances and music; tai chi and karate demos; and a lion dance. The public is encouraged to bring lawn chairs for comfort while viewing the performances.

Alameda celebrated the "Year of the Horse" at the Spring Festival held at Harbor Bay Landing Shopping Center last Saturday.

Many attended, including Vice Mayor Marilyn Ezzy Ashcraft, Councilman Stewart Chen, Fire Chief Mike D’Orazi, Police Chief Paul Rolleri and Alameda Unified School District Board President Niel Tam.
