Alameda Student, Educator Among 2020 ‘Women Who Dare’ Awardees

Girls Inc. of the Island City (GIIC) has announced its 2020 Women Who Dare awardees. In order to be selected, the women and teens must “exemplify strong, smart and bold and provide powerful role models for girls.”

Among the five awardees are two notable for their work in Alameda.

Girls Inc. Announces Scholarship Winners
Alameda High School (AHS) junior Luna Cristales recently received a $5,000 Girls Inc. national college scholarship. National scholars are outstanding young women selected for exemplifying the Girls Inc. mission of inspiring all girls to be strong, smart and bold. This year, the Girls Inc. national organization awarded 28 high school girls scholarships for educational expenses at any accredited college or university. Cristales is the seventh national scholar at Girls Inc. of the Island City.
