John Williams won the Alameda Mayor’s Fourth of July 5K R.A.C.E. Wednesday, July 4 in Alameda. R.A.C.E. stands for Ralph Appezzato Charity Event.
The 27-year-old completed the race in 15:27. He was the first of 1,016 participants to cross the finish line. Paul Balmer crossed the finish line four seconds later at 15:31. Crosby Freeman came in third with a time of 15:41. Doug Howard finished fourth with a time of 15:47, while Brian Gillis rounded out the top five with a time of 15:52. The only other competitor to finish under 16 minutes was Sam Robinson at 15:55.
