The 2022 high school football season begins Friday, August 26 and both the Alameda Hornets and Encinal Jets are in action.

The Encinal High School (EHS) Jets football team used its defensive prowess to give previously unbeaten Skyline High (3-1) of Oakland its first loss on the season Friday, Sept. 20 at Stargell Field.

This Sunday, Feb. 4, football fans can watch Super Bowl 52 live at the Alameda Theatre & Cineplex for no charge. The theater will present the live simulcast of the Philadelphia Eagles vs. the New England Patriots on the 50-foot screen in the Historic Theatre. Doors open at 2:30 p.m.

The Encinal High football team suffered its first and last loss of the 2017 season. The Jets undefeated season ended after a 49-32 defeat to Cardinal Newman of Santa Rosa Friday, Nov. 17, on the road.

The Encinal High football team completed an undefeated regular season with a 57-7 thrashing of San Lorenzo Friday, Nov. 3, on the road.

The Encinal Jets moved to 2-0 after their 46-6 drubbing of American of Fremont last Friday, Sept. 1, on Stargell Field. 

The Alameda High football team seniors were given a jovial sendoff after winning its regular season finale and presumably final home game on Senior Night 22-20 over Hayward last Friday at Thompson Field.
