The 2016-2017 high school basketball season is in full swing and Alameda teams already picked up some impressive victories last week.
The Alameda and Encinal high school women’s water polo teams staged their own Island Bowl in the West Alameda County Conference (WACC) water polo tournament championship last Friday, Oct. 29.
The Alameda Hornets and Encinal Jets football teams will face each other in the 62nd annual Island Bowl tomorrow at Willie Stargell Field.
The Encinal and Alameda high school cross country teams took part in the second West Alameda County Conference (WACC) meets last Wednesday, Oct. 12, at Hayward High.
The water polo regular season came to a close today, and all four Alameda and Encinal teams have been stellar this season.
The Encinal High football team improved to 4-1 on the year after a gritty 20-13 victory over Piedmont last Friday, Sept. 23.

The Encinal Jets football team got back to its winning ways with a 49-12 blowout over Harker of San Jose last Friday, Sept. 16, on the road.
