Local Student Named for Nat’l Scholar Program

Carlin Shannon, a graduating senior at Encinal High School, has been named one of more than 4,500 candidates in the 2019 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. The candidates were selected from nearly 3.6 million students expected to graduate from U.S. high schools this year.

The Encinal High School (EHS) Extravaganza of Bands, the annual parade marching band competition, will be held for the 20th year on Saturday, May 19. The event happens in the EHS Gymnasium and on city streets on the West End from 8 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.
