Winter Sports Regular Season Concludes

Three Encinal High football players participated in all-star games recently. Senior receiver Marques Singleton played in the Bay Area Cali Classic at Burrell Field in San Leandro on Jan. 28, while senior defensive backs Kenneth and Kyle Lorenzo played in the Bay Showcase at Tennyson High School.
The Alameda High School (AHS) men’s basketball team held off a spirited late comeback attempt by the host Encinal High School (EHS) to season sweep over their city rivals on Jan. 21.
Men’s Basketball
• St. Joseph Notre Dame (SJND) lost to Bishop O’Dowd of Oakland, 53-45 (Jan. 11); lost to San Leandro High School, 48-47 (Jan. 13); lost to Saratoga High School, 59-47 (Jan. 14).

• St. Joseph Notre Dame (SJND) lost to Piedmont High School, 62-46 (Jan. 6).
• Alameda High School (AHS) defeated Bishop O’Dowd of Oakland, 63-53 (Jan. 6); defeated Encinal High, 54-43 (Jan. 7).

• St. Joseph Notre Dame (SJND) lost to Serra High of San Mateo, 70-37 (Dec. 26); lost to Central Catholic of Modesto, 70-48 (Dec. 27); defeated Heritage High of Brentwood, 57-47 (Dec. 29).
On December 9-10, the Encinal Drama Department put on its anticipated production of The Wolves, a play following a girls soccer team through a single season, and the various successes and hardships they experience along the way.
Football:

• Encinal High School (EHS) lost to Bishop O’Dowd of Oakland, 30-0 (Oct. 14)
Women’s Volleyball:
• AHS defeated Piedmont High, 3-1 (Sept. 26); lost to Bishop O’Dowd of Oakland, 3-0 (Sept. 28); lost to Head-Royce of Oakland, 2-0 (Oct. 1).
The Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) welcomed three new student board members to the AUSD Board of Education this summer.
