• St. Joseph Notre Dame (SJND) lost to Ygnacio Valley High of Concord, 58-49 (Jan. 23); lost to Alameda High School, 57-49 (Jan. 25); lost to Piedmont High School, 63-47 (Jan. 27).

Encinal High School’s Model United Nations (MUN) attended UC Berkeley’s Fall Conference Nov. 12-13.
Encinal high student, Stella Madsen, was selected for the prestigious Student Enhancement in Earth and Space Science (SEES) summer internship to be held at The University of Texas at Austin’s Center for Space Research.
Both Alameda public high schools took home awards at the California Yearbook Academy. Encinal High School’s (EHS) Horizon took first place in the small high school division, while Alameda High School’s (AHS) Acorn took home second place in the large high school division.
Megan Njeri, a 2022 graduate of Encinal High School (EHS) and the College of Alameda, has only lived in two places: Nairobi, Kenya and Alameda, California.
Having lived in Alameda since she was four, she now plans to relocate to Palo Alto: at Stanford University to be exact.
The Kiwanis Club of Alameda held a formal dinner for the recipients of their scholarship program on June 8 at the Alameda Elks Lodge Ballroom. The scholarships were funded by the Alameda Kiwanis Foundation.
On Saturday, June 4, the Encinal High School (EHS) chess club went undefeated against Alameda High School (AHS) in the first ever “Island Board” chess tournament. The event was held on AHS’ campus.
Students at Encinal High School took part in two walkouts Friday, May 6, in protest of the potential decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn the constitutional right to abortion, allowing individual states to more heavily regulate or even ban the procedure.
Going into their final game of the season the Encinal High School (EHS) men’s volleyball team was just looking to end on a positive note. The Jets had lost 12 of their last 14 matches, with 10 of those losses coming without winning a single set.
Encinal High School’s (EHS) 2021 yearbook, Horizon, and Encinal Junior High School’s yearbook, The Sunset, have been recognized for excellence and featured in the 2022 Jostens Look Book, celebrating the best of the best in yearbook design and inclusivity.
