About a year after its launch, the ReThink Disposable program is really building momentum: 25 businesses have been certified (18 of them in the downtown district), 13 are in the process of being certified and 24 more businesses have signed up.
Attractive building façades (or storefronts) support and encourage local businesses. They can have a significant effect on the attractiveness and marketability of the surrounding area.
Father’s Day is this Sunday, June 17. The Island’s downtown district is a great place for families to spend a memorable day with Dad.

WAlameda celebrating Earth Day this Saturday, April 21, at Washington Park, it’s a terrific time to reflect on how the Downtown Alameda businesses do their part to protect the environment and make Alameda a greener community every day.
Downtown Alameda is losing a living treasure this month. After more than 60 years in business, Alameda resident and icon Eunice “Pauline” Kelley is closing up shop and retiring. A liquidation sale at 1427 Park St. takes place this entire weekend. (See details in ad on page 9).
