The Planning Board gave a tentative nod to the affordable senior housing planned for property at Buena Vista Avenue and Sherman Street. If the plan moves forward the 32-foot tall building, pictured above, would stand cheek-on-jowl to the Del Monte warehouse building.
As part of the $125 million Del Monte development, Tim Lewis Communities agreed to build 55 units of affordable housing. The apartment complex under consideration by the Planning Board would contain 31 units. Lewis will also provide 24 more units for moderate-income residents in the main building.
Members of the Planning Board and the Alameda community were able to review details of the Master Plan for the rehabilitation, reuse, and redevelopment of the former Del Monte Warehouse 1501 Buena Vista Ave. at the Planning Board meeting last Monday, April 28.
The Master Plan laid out in detail the project’s configurations regarding the number of housing units, parking arrangements and possible commercial property locations at the site. The 11.5-acre site will include at least 309, but up to 414 housing units and as much as 25,000 square feet of commercial space.
Daysog Holds Office Hours
City Councilman Tony Daysog will hold office hours from 6:30 to 8 p.m. this evening, Thursday, July 3, at the Blue Danube Coffee House, 1333 Park St.
“I will be available to answer questions and offer comments on city issues,” he said. Daysog will also be available at the Alameda Farmers’ Market at Webster Street and Haight Avenue from 9:30 to 11 a.m., this Saturday, July 5.
At Monday evening’s Planning Board meeting, Roseville, Calif. homebuilder Tim Lewis Communities unveiled plans to build up to 414 lofts, townhomes and flats and 25,000 square feet of shops and restaurants in and around the old Del Monte warehouse at the corner of Buena Vista Avenue and Sherman Street.
