The city will likely soon be seeking a firm to build a long-desired Shore Line Drive bikeway that staffers say will offer a safer route and bay views to cyclists traversing the 1.8-mile stretch of the Island from Westline Drive to Broadway.

The Alameda County Waste Management Authority (ACWMA) is considering tacking $9.55 per year for the next 10 years onto property tax bills.

The authority states that it needs the money to support the countywide household hazardous waste program. This program provides collection and disposal services for household hazardous waste like paint, solvents and pesticides.
