Alameda police join East Bay raid

Two major arrests were made last week that have connections to Alameda.

SWAT teams from several East Bay police departments, including the Alameda Police Department (APD), arrested four armed-robbery suspects on Wednesday, June 6, in relation to recent armed robberies at cellphone stores. 

The Berkeley Police Department (BPD), along with the Oakland, Hayward, Brentwood and Pittsburg police departments were also involved in the multi-city operation. 

 

The Berkeley Police Department’s (BPD) special response team was on Briggs Avenue just before 8:30 a.m., Thursday morning, Aug. 9, to arrest Anthony McCurty of Berkeley. 

According to BPD, the 37-year-old McCurty discharged a firearm near Berkeley’s San Pablo Park shortly before 4 p.m., on Monday, July 24. No one was hit during the shooting, but one of McCurty’s stray bullets passed through a wall of a home on the 1300 block of Burnett Street and nearly struck a resident in the head.
