Scottish bagpiper offers unique opportunity for revelers to celebrate while raising money to help fight cancer
For the third year running, Alameda resident and Scottish ex-patriot Andy MacKay will play “Auld Lang Syne” on the bagpipes in every bar in Alameda. That’s how he celebrates the New Year and raises money for the American Cancer Society.
Local bagpiper Andy MacKay reported he had a great time doing the New Year’s Eve Pipe-athon again this year and raised more than $3,900 for American Cancer Society. MacKay’s fundraising page is still open at hogmabay.org. MacKay said many thanks to all the donors, and Happy New Year!
American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Alameda is hosting two fundraisers in one this Saturday, April 2, at the Eagles Hall, 2305 Alameda Ave. The community is invited to enjoy dinner downstairs for $15 or the “Relay around the World Fun-raiser” upstairs for $10 ($5 for those who enjoyed dinner downstairs).
