According to the Alameda Police Department, just before 10:15 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 22, an 85-year-old man came into the Crown Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 508 Westline Drive, and shot a relative, an 85-year-old woman.

Alamedan to Sit on Parole Board

Gov. Jerry Brown has appointed Alameda resident Troy Taira, to a three-year term as a commissioner on the state Board of Parole Hearings. If approved by the state senate, he would sit as one of 12 full-time commissioners and earn $142,095, a year.
