Alameda Rotary Club

 

The rain clouds parted just in time for the first-ever Ride for the Parks event held last Saturday. More than 500 cyclists of all ages and skill levels gathered at the start and end point, Washington Park (above), to raise money for the Alameda Recreation and Parks Department (ARPD). Alameda Bicycle, Team Alameda and the Alameda Rotary Club helped staff the event along with ARPD, other sponsors and volunteers. Riders were encouraged to take either an 8-mile or 22-mile journey along the shorelines of Alameda and Bay Farm Island.

 

On Tuesday, May 30, Alameda Rotary Club awarded $27,500 in scholarships at a celebration honoring the winners from all the Alameda high schools 

The academic winners with their current high schools and colleges they will attend this fall include:
