Alameda Planning Board

Planning Board members are scheduled to consider a conditional use permit for the city’s first marijuana dispensary. The permit will allow Main Street Supply, LLC, to open its business at 1528 Webster St. (at Haight Avenue) in the building shown above. If everything proceeds as planned, the business will offer its customers space for on-site consumption, as well as a delivery service. The Planning Board meets next Monday, March 11, in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Ave. The meeting begins at 7 p.m.

The Alameda Planning Board held a public hearing on the proposed Alameda Shipways Residential Project along the Oakland Estuary at its April 24 meeting.

The project will be located between 1100 and 1250 Marina Village Parkway. The structure would be four stories at 55 feet high and 450 feet long. It would occupy 8.1 acres of land.

The Alameda Planning Board held a public hearing for the Encinal Terminals draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) Monday, March 27.

The purpose of the public hearing was to allow Alameda residents to express their opinions about the project with Alameda officials. The draft EIR was completed on Feb. 9. The report was then under a 45-day public comment period, which concluded yesterday.

Public comments were mostly in favor of the project. However, some residents were concerned about its potential to add traffic. The project proposes 589 new housing units.
