The Alameda Unified School District (AUSD) LGBTQ+ Roundtable announced the winners of the annual Everyone Belongs Here Poster and Poetry Contest on May 30.

The Alameda High School (AHS) Athletic Hall of Fame committee will hold its fourth annual ceremony to induct and honor 10 former AHS athletes. The ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, June 11 at the Alameda Elks Lodge.

Multiple Alameda high school track-and-field athletes competed in the North Coast Section (NCS) Meet of Champions event Saturday, May 21 at Dublin High. The event is the NCS championship tournament in track and field.

Five students from the Alameda High School (AHS) Poetry Club competed in the Unified Poetry Slam preliminary round in San Francisco on April 21. The poetry slam was hosted by Youth Speaks, a leading presenter of spoken word performance, education, and youth development programs.

The Encinal High School (EHS) baseball team went 1-1 over spring break, beating Hercules High School, 14-0, on April 12 and losing to Concord High School, 2-0, on April 14. The loss snapped a five-game win streak for the Jets.

Alameda High School (AHS) men’s volleyball team defeated rival Encinal High School (EHS), 3-0, on March 22 on their home gym.

Alameda High School (AHS) drama teacher, Zachary Morris, was searching for a play to direct when a student recommended one he wasn’t familiar with, She Kills Monsters. The play is a dramedy by Qui Nguyen that debuted in 2011.

A quartet of Encinal High School (EHS) men’s track-and-field athletes won the men’s 4x400-meter relay race at the Marsh Creek Invitational at Freedom High in Oakley, Saturday, March 12.
