Five Alameda high school teens have been awarded college scholarships through their participation in Girls Inc. of the Island City (GIIC).
Five students from the Alameda High School (AHS) Poetry Club competed in the Unified Poetry Slam preliminary round in San Francisco on April 21. The poetry slam was hosted by Youth Speaks, a leading presenter of spoken word performance, education, and youth development programs.
Alameda High School (AHS) drama teacher, Zachary Morris, was searching for a play to direct when a student recommended one he wasn’t familiar with, She Kills Monsters. The play is a dramedy by Qui Nguyen that debuted in 2011.
A quartet of Encinal High School (EHS) men’s track-and-field athletes won the men’s 4x400-meter relay race at the Marsh Creek Invitational at Freedom High in Oakley, Saturday, March 12.
The Alameda High School (AHS) women’s basketball team used its defensive prowess to score a heart-racing 37-33 victory over Casa Grande High of Petaluma in the second round of the North Coast Section (NCS) Div. II women’s basketball playoffs Saturday, Feb. 19.
