Sun Shines Everywhere 3853

Mother Lucy Gigli (right) and daughter Marisa Wood (left) posed with the Alameda Sun at the Cape of Good Hope in Table Mountain National Park in South Africa recently. The duo spent one month traveling and volunteering in the Western and Eastern Cape provinces, while also squeezing in some surfing in the Indian Ocean, safaris and feeding the animals at a wildlife sanctuary called African Dawn. Although they were there in August when it was warm here in Alameda, it was a chilly winter day in the southern hemisphere. While the actual southernmost tip of South Africa is Cape Agulhas, Cape Point is the most well known southern spot. Volunteering was a great experience for both of them and groups rescuing and protecting animals, like African Dawn, rely on volunteers for help.
