Youth Raising Funds for Alameda Food Bank
Amy Nguyen & Emma Esposito
The Alameda Youth Committee (AYC) is a volunteer leadership group comprised of Alameda youth in grades six through 12 (pictured). Students initiate, plan, assist and lead a variety of community projects and events. This spring, the committee is raising money for the Alameda Food Bank from Monday, April 19, to Sunday, May 23.
AYC understands the need for food as more people are food insecure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The organization is dedicated to helping as many people as possible through assisting the Food Bank.
Anyone may make a contribution by scanning the accompanying QR code to visit the fundraising page on the Alameda Food Bank website. For every $1 donated, $7 worth of food can be purchased for a community member in need.
Thank you, every cent helps.
For more information, contact Shawn Smith, Alameda Recreation and Park Department Recreation Supervisor, at SDSmith@alamedaca.gov, or (510) 747-7529.
Amy Nguyen, a Wood Middle School eighth grader, and Emma Esposito, a Lincoln Middle School sixth Grader, contributed this report on behalf of AYC.
