While it may look like Alameda’s shoreline, that is indeed the Adriatic Sea in the background of this 2017 photo. Left to right: Sonja & Rick Kos and Norma Pilone present the Alameda Sun at the Lido Iris resort in Silvi, Italy. The seaside town is not far from where Alameda Sun publisher Eric J. Kos’ grandfather was born in 1911. Sonja and Rick (Eric’s brother) live in San Francisco. Norma, Eric’s aunt, lives in New Jersey, and is an avid reader of the Alameda Sun. All three pictured are former Alameda residents.
