Legal Ad Prices

• Fictitious Business Name $75 for 4 weeks of publication, and proof of publication sent to Alameda County Clerk Recorder. A copy of your FBN proof of publication is available for an additional $25. *
• Name Change $125 for 4 weeks of publication, includes proof of publication sent to client and the court. Additional names are $25 each, and must be on the same form. 
• Petition for Probate $200 for 3 weeks of publication, includes affidavit sent to client and the court. **
• Other Legal Ads are $1 per word, or $40 per column inch for display advertisements.

* For any business filing a Fictitious Business Name Statement in Alameda County.

** Petition for Probate only for residents of the City of Alameda.

We start the process once you have filed your paperwork with the court (NC-120 form). If you don’t have your paperwork yet please contact the Civil Division of Alameda County Superior Court http://www.alameda.courts.ca.gov/Pages.aspx/Civil.

Once your paperwork is complete email a scanned copy to legals@alamedasun.com. Your ad must run for four weeks before your assigned court date.

The Alameda Sun's deadline for submissions and payments is Tuesday, and the paper is distributed on Thursday. A digital copy of the classified page is available on our website every Friday afternoon http://alamedasun.com/classifieds.

The fee for a Name Change is $125 for four weeks of publication. After the fourth publication, we will file a proof of publication with the court and send a copy to you. If you have more than one name change and all of your name changes are on the same form with the same file number then you will only need to pay $25 for each extra name. If you have separate NC-120 forms then we will have to run separate ads.

We will need to process your payment before we publish your advertisement. We accept credit card payments by phone. Please include your phone number when you send your form.

The Alameda Sun is an adjudicated newspaper for Alameda County. Since we circulate primarily in the City of Alameda, we publish summons legal advertisements only if the defendant lives in the City of Alameda. Before we agree to run a summons advertisement we will need your email confirmation of the defendant’s Alameda address.

The fee is $400 for four weeks of publication (for an ad which is 400 words or less), and we will send an affidavit after the last publication. If your content exceeds 400 words the fee will be $1 per word.

Please send your ad content via email in a word document to legals@alamedasun.com. You may also send a readable PDF. The newspaper is distributed once a week on Thursday. The deadline for submissions and payments is Tuesday at noon.

Basic in-line classified ads are $1 per word per week. 

Classified display advertisements are $40 per column inch.
