Longtime Alameda Resident Pamela MacDonald passed away unexpectedly in Fremont Feb. 7, 2014. Loving wife for 44 years to Daniel “Dan” MacDonald of Alameda. She was the daughter of the Evelyn (Lou Abrams) and Sol Segal, who preceded her in death, the loving mother of Tracy and Drew MacDonald (Corina) and sister of Richard Segal, and Jackie St. John (Michael). She is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews. She had a long successful career with Bright Now Dental in Oakland and was a district manager for the last nine years before her retirement. Once retired she travelled the world with the love of her life, Dan, spending time together and enjoying each other’s company with their friends. Cruises were planned and enjoyed. She loved Alameda, and she belonged to a few “Ladies Groups” of friends who met regularly. Pam was loved and will be missed by all who knew her. Services were attended by friends and family yesterday at Temple Israel in Alameda. Private interment.

Resident of Alameda Born in Daly City, Patricia lived and passed away peacefully in Alameda. She was the beloved partner of Brad Miner and sister of Sue Mason. Patricia worked for Sybase as a technical writer and enjoyed travel, sports, music and auto racing, was a supporter of the Humane Society and had a special affection for all things hippo.

Sal Spingola passed away on Jan. 27, 2014 in Alameda at the age of 90. He was dearly loved by his family and will be sadly missed by Betty, his devoted wife of 65 years. Born in San Francisco and raised in Alameda, Sal was well known and liked in the community.

Son of the late Angelo and Elizabeth Spingola. Brother of Elizabeth and the late Henry Vallerga, the late Angela and John Campbell, the late Marie and Fred Liserra, and the late Frank and Eleanor Spingola. Brother in-law of Emma and the late Robert Beland, Beverly Splan, the late Helen and Tony Marich, and the late Walter Lucas.

He loved his nieces and nephews as his own: Donna Campbell, John and Judy Campbell, Michael and Merryanne Liserra, Stephen and Roberta Liserra, Cathy (Spingola) and Sean Talai, David and Valarie Vallerga, Karen and Douglas Sowell, Diane and Ronald Fair, Laura and Evert Palmer, Marie Tapia, Tanjore Splan, Laurette and James Mari, Claire Splan, Jeanette Beland, Andrea and Dan Marshall, and the late Donald and James Spingola, the late Dorothy Marich. He is also survived by many greatand great-great-nieces and nephews that he enjoyed and loved so much. He will be greatly missed by his family. Sal proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Forces in World War ll as a tail gunner, he flew 31 bombing missions over France and Germany.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Lymphoma Society, Veterans Organizations or your favorite charity. Family and friends attended a viewing followed by the Mass of Christian Burial Feb. 3 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Alameda. Entombment with military honors were held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
