Resident of Alameda
Born in Flandreau, South Dakota, on Oct. 12, 1933, to the late Melvin and Mildred Bonrud, Donna passed away peacefully in Alameda, on Feb. 5, 2014. In the early 1950s she left her small town for the San Francisco Bay Area.
It was here that she met her late husband, Robert Carter, a career serviceman with the U.S. Navy, and raised their two sons Michael and Steven. She fell in love with Alameda and spent the majority of her life with friends and family on this island.
She is survived by her two sons Michael and Steven Carter; her daughters-in-law Esther and Sharon Carter; her grandchildren Marianne, Sharie, Frank and Joshua Carter; and her two brothers Lanny and Robert Bonrud. Donna was a loving mother, a beloved grandmother and sweet sister. Family meant everything to her and she did anything she could to keep everyone happy and connected.

Beth Murray McCain, age 92, former resident of Alameda, passed away on Feb. 8, 2014, surrounded by those that loved her. She was born Sept. 24, 1921, in Wellsville, Utah. She grew up on the family farm until age 16, when she began the life journey that brought her to Alameda where she raised her family.
In 1985 she retired from the Alameda Hospital after 23 years service. She was a loving and devoted first caregiver to hundreds of Alameda babies and their mothers during that period. Beth will be missed by her loving sister, Janice Parker, of Hyrum, Utah, who comforted her until the end; her children and their spouses: Dianne Rodrigues (Philip DePietro) of Alameda, Donald Rodrigues (Mona) of Alameda, and Cheryl Fergen of San Lorenzo; Grandchildren: Noah DePietro, John Butler, Neal Rodrigues, Louis Rodrigues and Martin Rodrigues; sisters-in-law: Barbara Murray and AngelaMurray; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert McCain; parents Luther Parker Murray and Geneva (Morris) Murray; three brothers: Lee Murray, Keith Murray and Derlin Murray; sonin- law, Michael Fergen, and dear friend, Ethel Rossiter. Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing and memorial service at 9 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland. Resident of Alameda Born in Daly City, Patricia lived and passed away peacefully in Alameda. She was the beloved partner of Brad Miner and sister of Sue Mason. Patricia worked for Sybase as a technical writer and enjoyed travel, sports, music and auto racing, was a supporter of the Humane Society and had a special affection for all things hippo.
