Helen G. Mohr

Helen G. Mohr died June 25, 2018 in Alameda after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. 

She was born March 6, 1941, with her identical twin Ann, in Davenport, Iowa, to Florentine “Jack” Mohr and Margaret Coen Mohr. Helen graduated from Assumption High School and Mary Crest College, both in Davenport.

She had a 38-year career, primarily in San Francisco with the Federal Department of Housing Development, developing multi-family housing in Northern California and Nevada, administering community development block grants in San Mateo County and its communities.

Helen is survived by her loving husband, Jim Thomas. They shared a wonderful life together in Alameda. She was preceded in death by her parents and her twin sister Ann Mohr, sister Mary Otto and brother Chuck Mohr.

Helen was a person of great compassion and empathy. She was always the first to offer aid and comfort to anyone in need.

A celebration of Helen’s life will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1506 Brown St, Bettendorf, IA 52722 at a time not yet determined.
