Paul Frank Cappa

Paul Frank Cappa passed away early Wednesday morning, Feb. 26 at the age of 83. He was an Alameda native, loving brother, and wonderful uncle. He graduated from Alameda High School in 1949 where he was on the varsity track team.

Paul worked as a draftsman on bridge/building engineering design projects in the fabricating works department at Bethlehem Steel‘s Alameda yard and later at Bethlehem’s Point Pinole facility and Herrick Steel in Hayward. Paul was an active member of St. Barnabas Church and the Italian Catholic Federation. He loved to go hiking, fishing and camping with family. He is survived by his sister Irene Maslonkowski and her children Dennis Maslonkowski, Terry Shuler, Nancy Dressler, and Joyce Rinck; also his brother Aldo Cappa and Aldo’s children Brian, Paul and Leslye Cappa. He was predeceased by his parents Peter & Mary Cappa, brother- in-law Ervin Maslonkowski and niece Linda Goldbeck. He also leaves behind many greatnieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation today, from 5 to 7 p.m. with a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Greer Family Mortuary and Cremation Services, 2694 Blanding Ave., Alameda. Funeral Mass will be on Friday, March 7, at 10 a.m. at St. Barnabas Church, 1427 Sixth St. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, 2560 Church Lane, San Pablo. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to St. Barnabas Church.
