Harriet Marie Taylor

Born in San Leandro, on Dec. 3, 1925, to the late Erma (Dobbell) and Harry Nelson. Harriet passed away peacefully in Alameda on April 10, 2014, at the age of 88.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Loren Alfred Taylor, brother Harry Nelson and sister Meriam Narvaez. Harriet was the loving mother of Loren Craig Taylor, and Kandis (Michael) Gaughan; grandmother of Ryan, Nathan and Matthew Gaughan; great-grandmother of Ariella, Anneliese, Lauren and Kellan Gaughan.

She spent the majority of her life as a loving wife, mother and grandma. She was a talented seamstress and homemaker. She and Loren raised their family in Hayward, but returned to their beloved Alameda when Loren retired. After Loren’s retirement, they enjoyed traveling all over the world and taking bus trips with the Elks. She loved playing cards until her failing eyesight finally took its toll to total blindness. She was an avid A’s baseball fan and never missed an opportunity to listen to them on the radio.

She will be laid to rest with her husband at the San Francisco National Cemetery in the Presidio at a future date.
