Mark (Marco) Guajardo
It is with deep, and heavy sadness that we announce the death of Mark Guajardo (Marco) age 63. He died at Highland Hospital on August 20th, 2014 after suffering cardiac arrest on August 10th, 2014.
Mark was born in Dallas Texas but lived most of his life in Alameda, Ca. He was a Vietnam War Veteran, who earned several commendations for his service which included: National Defense Service, Combat Infantry, Vietnam Service, Sharpshooter, Army Marksman, and two Purple Hearts.
Mark is well known for his years as a welder at the Shipyard of Alameda and most recently as the owner and operator of the Clubhouse and Cocktail Lounge in Alameda. He lovingly helped raise two daughters, Monica and Corinna. Mark was passionate about serving and supporting his fellow Veterans in any way possible. Anyone who visited and enjoyed time at The Clubhouse knows that it was about entertaining and providing his Veteran friends a place to be appreciated. So much so, that he earned several awards for his generosity and continued support.
For those that didn’t get a chance to know Mark well, he was a quick learner and could pick up most any instrument and play a tune. He was an artist and loved music of all kinds. Mark loved to travel and lived in Mexico, Hawaii and of course California. He was a born leader and loved things done his way. Mark would love if we remembered him as “the most interesting man in the world.”
Mark is survived by his mother Loyce, life partner Susan, daughters Monica and Corinna and three grandchildren, Taylor, Nicholas, and Jacqueline. Mark is also survived by his many loving and close friends and colleagues.
Mark lived his life on his terms and passionately loved the people around him. His tenacity for serving those same people will be missed for many years to come.
