Catherine Phillips, 89, passed away in Alameda Feb. 9, 2020.Catherine was a native of Alameda born April 23, 1930. She was a graduate of Alameda High School.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, Peter and Margaret Canepa. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald Phillips.
She was the loving mother of Vincent (David) and John (Kim) Phillips; grandmother of Nicholas (Charlee), Bryan and Matthew; great-grandmother of Isabella, Marley and Nicholas.
Catherine was a long-time member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church and a long-time volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the Italian American League.
Vigil rosary services will be held Thursday, April 13, at 6 p.m. at the Alameda Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel, 1415 Oak St., Alameda.
Graveside services will be held Friday, April 14, at 1 p.m. at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward. In lieu of flowers her family prefers that memorial contributions be made to Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter and Alameda Meals on Wheels.
