Kenneth ‘Ken’ George Darrell
Longtime Alameda hairstylist Kenneth “Ken” Darrell, 74, passed away May 30, 2019, at his home in Livermore with his wife Linda, daughter Kristin, son-in-law Kenon and two grandchildren Brooke and Brady.
Ken was born in New Rochelle, N.Y., to George and Sylvia Darrell. He married Linda Angerame on Feb. 20, 1977, in West Hempstead, N.Y. They traveled across the country together on a motorcycle and arrived in Alameda.
Ken operated Ken Darrell’s Hair Design at the Encinal Shopping Center for more than 30 years. The many stylists and customers that worked with him remember his sense of humor, his wonderful storytelling and many great conversations in his stylist’s chair.
Ken and Linda became parents on March 13, 1981, to their daughter Kristin Lyn. They moved to a ranch in Livermore in 1986 and owned many animals.
Ken was known for his love for his family and his love for all of his animals, which over the years included: dogs, cats, pigs, horses, chickens, ducks, rabbits and sheep. He was also known for his consistent and determined work ethic.
Friends and family celebrated Ken’s life at a memorial service held June 14 at Chapel of Callaghan Mortuary in Livermore, officiated by Clay Felicitas.
Love lives on
Those we love are never really lost to us.
We feel them in so many special ways. Through friends they always cared about and dreams they left behind, in beauty that they added to our days, in words of wisdom we still carry with us and memories that never will be gone.
Those we love are never really lost to us. For everywhere their special love lives on.
