Women Golfers Host Weekly Tournament
Siv Richards won the Alameda Women’s Golf Club net tournament event with a net 62 on the Jack Clark Course on March 12.
Richards competed in the sixth flight among golfers with a 39 to 40 handicap. Jean Eddy posted a net 65 from the sixth flight for second place. Pam Curtis finished third with a net 67. Connie Wendling came in fourth with a net 84, while Kai Choi posted a net 90 for fifth place.
Kari Vadnais shot a net 67 for first place in the first flight — handicap of nine to 17. Tai Chewpanich and Maggie Lindquist shot net 69s to tie for second place. Chewpanich shot the lowest gross score of the day with an overall 80. Kathy Nagakura shot a net 72 for fourth place, while Val Buschor rounded out the top five with a net 73.
Sia Scates won the second flight — handicap of 18 to 25 — by shooting a net 69. Judy Eng finished one stroke behind her with a net 70. Phoebe Yu shot a net 74 for third place. Sherry Westernoff posted a net 77 for fourth place. Siobhan Curley and Cindy Withrow shot net 78s to tie for fifth place.
Sarah Valentine won the third flight — handicap of 27 to 29 — with a net 68. Barbara Mickle finished second with a net 70. Alice posted a net 72 for third place. Connie Bates shot a net 73. Sonia Kwak shot a net 74 for fifth place.
LeAnn Curran won the fourth flight — handicap of 30 to 35 — with a net 68. Rita Restrepo shot a net 73 for second place. Louise Eilhardt and Susan Logan tied for third place with net 77s. Peggy Marcerno and Shirley Lee tied for fifth place with net 78s.
Jan Peyrot and Lynette Mladinich tied atop the fifth flight — handicap of 36 to 38 — with net 68s. Beatrice Lebrec shot a net 71 for third place. Sandi Kaney finished fourth with a net 73, while Vivian Kang finished fifth with a net 79.
Forty-eight golfers participated in the event.
