Women’s Golf Club Posts Results
Claudia Leed won the Alameda Women’s Golf Club net tournament event last Thursday, Feb. 28, on the Jack Clark Course.
Leed won the event by posting a net 71. She competed in the third flight among golfers with a handicap of 29 to 34. Sandi Kaney shot a 76 for second place in the flight, while Jane Sullwold came in third place with a net 78. Louis Eilhardt shot a net 79 for fourth place, while Denise Gasti finished fifth with a net 80.
Judy Eng finished second in the overall tournament with a net 72. She did finish first in the second flight among golfers with a handicap of 23 to 28. Pat O’Hara posted a net 73 for second place in the flight. Bernice Herzberg shot a net 74 for third place. Debbie Adams shot a net 75 for fourth place, while Sarah Valentine shot a net 76 to round out the top five in the flight.
Stephanie Bellato and Cheryl Saxton each shot a net 73 to land atop the first flight — handicap of 10 to 18. The duo also shot the best gross scores of the event with matching overall 85s. Tai Chewpanich shot a net 75 for third place in the first flight. Kathy Nagakura posted a net 77, while Siobhan Curley shot a net 78 for fifth place.
Pam Curtis shot a net 80 to win the fourth flight — handicap of 35 to 40. Carolee Ziegenhagen was two strokes behind her with a net 78 for second place in the flight. Jean Eddy posted a net 80 for third place in the flight.
Saxton won the closest-to-the-hole competition on the seventh hole. Her ball landed 19’ 9” from the pin. Eng finished behind her with her ball landing 25’ 6” from the hole. Maggie Lindquist came in third place after her shot landed 29 feet from the pin.
Bellato won the competition on the 16th hole. Her ball landed 1’ 5” from the hole. Pam Curtis’ attempt landed 5’ 8” from the hole. Eng also missed out on winning the competition on the 16th hole. Instead she earned third place after her attempt landed 9’ 8” from the pin.
Thirty-nine players competed in the event.
