Women’s Golf Club Hosts Weekly Event
Sullwold leads the pack with net 67
Jane Sullwold won the Alameda Women’s Golf Club net tournament on Thursday, Feb. 13, on the Jack Clark Course.
Sullwold posted a net 67 from the fourth flight. She played among golfers with 33 to 35 handicaps. Susan Yoon finished two strokes behind her in the flight. Sandi Kaney finished two strokes behind Yoon with a net 71. LeAnn Curran shot a net 72 for fourth place, while Jean Cho finished in fifth with a net 73.
Maggie Lindquist and Kathy Nagakura finished tied atop the first flight — handicap of nine to 17 — with net 74s. Sue Ferra and Stephanie Bellato both shot net 76s to tie for third place in the flight.
Claire Loud posted a net 73 to win the second flight — handicap of 18 to 25. Siobhan Curley and Jackie Suh shot net 74s to tie for second place in the flight. Chris Bailey finished in fourth place with a net 76.
There was another tie atop the third flight — handicap of 27 to 32. Linda Hallsey and Alice Wong both shot net 73s for a share of the victory. Claudia Leed posted a net 76 for third place, while Sonia Kwak came in fourth place with a net 82.
Jan Peyrot shot a net 74 to win the fifth flight — handicap of 35 to 37. Kay Park and Janet Rhee both shot net 76s to tie for second place in the flight. Diane Hughes and Shirley Lee both shot net 78s to tie for fourth place in the flight.
Pam Curtis just managed to edge out Jean Eddy for victory in the sixth flight — handicap of 37 to 40. Curtis shot a net 83, while Eddy posted a net 84. Janet Kirk shot a net 87 for third place. Kay Choi shot a net 89 for fourth place.
Cho won the closest-to-the-hole competition on the fifth hole by landing her ball 5’ 11” from the pin. Tai Chewpanich won the competition on the 16th hole by landing her ball 7’ from the hole. Fifty-one golfers participated in the event.
