Water Polo Season in the Books

 

The high school water polo regular season has concluded and Alameda high school teams are gearing up for the postseason. 

Women’s Water Polo
The Alameda High women’s team (17-4) won their fourth straight West Alameda County Conference (WACC) title Saturday, Oct. 28, with an 11-4 victory over Bishop O’Dowd. The Hornets earned the four seed in the 16-team North Coast Section (NCS) Div. II playoffs. They played Mission of San Jose in the first round yesterday. 

The Encinal High women’s team (18-7) finished third in the WACC playoffs. They lost to Bishop O’Dowd 12-11 in the semifinal, but beat Piedmont 17-6 in the third-place game. Junior Shelby Nelson led the way with six goals in the contest.

The Jets are the 10 seed in the NCS Div. II. They played Tamalpais of Mill Valley yesterday. 

Men’s Water Polo
The Alameda men’s team (22-4) also won their WACC championship match up against Bishop O’Dowd 13-10. League MVP Donovan Chan scored five goals.

Alameda earned the two seed in the 16-team NCS Div. II playoffs. They took on Concord yesterday. The Encinal men’s team (6-19) did not qualify for the postseason.
