Support the Food Bank
The Alameda Food Bank is in need of volunteers to work in a fun, family-like environment giving daily help to Alameda friends and neighbors in need.
The food bank is seeking people who have an afternoon or morning free each week and would be willing to make an ongoing commitment to the food bank.
Current volunteer shifts available are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 2 to 5:30 p.m. or Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The food bank also needs drivers.

City Commissions Need Help
The City of Alameda recently announced it has several vacancies on city commissions that need to be filled.
Vacancies include: one on the Civil Service Board, one on the Golf Commission, two on the Historical Advisory Board, one on the Library Board, two on the Planning Board, one on the Public Art Commission, one on the Public Utilities Board, three on the Recreation and Park Commission, two on the Social Service Human Relations Board (SSHRB), three on the Transportation Commission and four on the Youth Advisory Commission.
Application forms may be obtained from the office of the City Clerk, City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Ave., Room 380, by telephoning 747-4800, or on the city’s website. Interested persons are encouraged submit applications to the City Clerk by Thursday, May 1.
