Update from the Volleyball Court

Men’s volleyball is another sport Alameda’s high school students are taking part in this spring.
The Alameda High men’s volleyball team is off to an 11-3 start to the season. They started the season with a 3-0 (29-27, 25-20, 26-24) over Irvington of Fremont on March 4. The Hornets later won five of its seven matches in the Castro Valley Tournament on March 15 with victories over Castro Valley, Aragon of San Mateo and more. The Hornets have won three of its last four matches including a 3-0 victory over Washington of San Francisco on March 27. They will take on Mt. Eden of Hayward tomorrow. 
St. Joseph Notre Dame is 5-7 in its men’s volleyball season. They defeated De Anza of El Sobrante (3-0 25-16, 25-18, 25-20) on Feb. 25; St. Mary’s of Albany twice on Feb. 27 and March 25 and a 3-1 win over Richmond (25-12, 21-25, 25-20, 25-18) on March 11. The Pilots are currently on a three-game losing streak at the hands of Los Altos, Moreau Catholic of Hayward and St. Patrick/St. Vincent of Vallejo, but will try to end it against Bentley of Lafayette today on the road. 
The Encinal men’s volleyball team is off to a rough 2014 season. The Jets are winless on the season as of April 7. The closest match the Jets played in was a 3-1 loss to Berkeley on March 11. The team did take on Arroyo on April 8 and will play today against San Leandro at the Nail House.
