Union City Sex Sting Nets Two Alamedans


The Union City Police Department (UCPD) announced that on Nov. 3 officers from its Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving Unit (COPPS) arrested 15 men in a sting operation. UCPD crime reports state that the officers made the arrests about 4 p.m. on the 32000 block of Alvarado Niles Road. 

According to UCPD, the men had all responded to an online advertisement that offered sex. They then offered to pay money for a sex act with an undercover officer posing as a prostitute. The men arrested included two from Alameda: Alvin Nelson and Jamon Copeland.
UCPD conducted the sting with the Alameda County Vice Enforcement Team (ACVET). The team included officers from the Hayward and Piedmont police departments, as well as the Alameda County Probation Department. 

The operation also led to the arrest of four men who allegedly aided a prostitute. UCPD stated that they “conducted an undercover prostitution operation to recover commercially sexually exploited children, arrest adult and juvenile prostitutes, pimps and male
