Two Small Quakes Centered Near Zoo

Two earthquakes struck the East Bay within 18 hours this past weekend, both located in almost exactly the same location on 98th Avenue next to the Oakland Zoo, on the Hayward Fault..

The first temblor, measured at 3.0 happened at 7:15 p.m. Friday, October 1, and the second, a magnitude 3.4, shortly after noon on Saturday, October 2, 2021. There were no reports of injuries or damage. For more information about this and other earthquakes, visit earthquake.usgs.gov
