Two Arrested in Connection with Grand Theft

On July 17 around 6 p.m., Alameda Police Department (APD) dispatchers received a call from an employee at a South Shore Center business about a theft. As the involved parties left the scene, the caller was able to provide a detailed description of the individuals and their vehicle.

During the investigation, officers were led to the 1500 block of Pacific Avenue where they located two women and a vehicle matching the description. According to APD reports, officers recovered about $1,300 in stolen merchandise from their possession, and the two Alameda residents were arrested for grand theft. APD did not release the names of the suspects.

Officers have been working with the business community to help curb retail thefts. APD would like to applaud the employee for immediately reporting the theft. “Their prompt action, combined with the description provided, helped APD quickly locate and recover the merchandise,” stated APD.
